The world famous producer and electronic mogul, Avicii, has just announced the release of his highly anticipated first album, #True. Debuting this September 17th on PRMD Music/Island Def Jam Records Label, the two-time Grammy nominated artist is set for success as the album is sure to propel the young-gun’s career even further than his mega-hit, “Le7els.”
Avicii has been recognized over all spectrums of music in the live EDM scene, but for this 23 year-old, #True will be his first full length studio album. #True will include his hit song “Wake Me Up”, and feature incredible artists such as Aloe Blacc, Michael Einziger (formally of Incubus), blue grass singer Dan Tyminski, Nile Rodgers (featured on Daft Punk’s new album), and the legendary country star Mac Davis.
What’s even more remarkable is that the single “Wake Me Up” (released on iTunes June 25th) is already on top ten lists in international markets, and #1 in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands.
As Avicii relished about his recent album, he spoke of how bringing together many different genres, influenced his work in to a fresh, interesting, and successful outcome.
Ash Pournouri, board member of PRMD Records and Avicii’s manager and creative partner, stated, “With this album we are showing the world how Avicii leads the electronic music scene into a new era, rather than copying or following it. We have set the grounds for a historic album launch to happen and Island Def Jam has been chosen to help realize that goal together with PRMD Music.”
Avicii and Pournouri have donated over $2.5 million to hunger initiatives through their House for Hunger charity, including royalties from the first worldwide music collaboration ever, “Avicii X You.”
Tim Bergling, or as we know him as Avicii, got his start just a few years ago. With only a few months of producing under his belt, Avicii’s immeasurable talents were quickly recognized and brought to the table of big players in the EDM scene. Instantly, the Swedish DJ was captivated and started producing for endless hours at home, creating track after track.
Trying to keep his own identity and originality, Avicii never bound himself to one sub-genre of EDM, and strives to keep all productions up to date and innovative. Taking into account his inspirations like Laidback Luke, Steve Angello and Tocadisco, Daft Punk, Eric Prydz and Axwell, many can see some of the best concepts of these icons worked into his own style.
“Avicii’s musical contributions have already gained international acclaim, but his upcoming debut album is about to transform the current landscape”
-David Massey, President of Island Records
“Avicii stands for killer melodies combined with his own high-energy style productions bringing a new sound to the scene. Avicii truly is the Sound of Now”
