Big Gigantic Review @ Aragon Ballroom – Chicago – 3/14/15

On Saturday night, March 14th, the Aragon Ballroom was graced with the presence of one of Colorado’s jamtronica duos, known as Big Gigantic (aka Big G). Big G, made up of Dominic Lalli (sax machine) and Jeremy Salken (percussion) has a long, steady relationship with the city of Chicago, as it was one of the first cities outside of those in Colorado that embraced the group’s inventive sound.

Saturday night was Big G’s first time playing together in Chicago since their 2013 New Year’s show, and this time they made sure to make Chicago feel extra special for being away so long.  Not only did the band release a special download for their Chicago performance, joining them on stage was the horn section from the Chicago Afrobeat Project to spice up the night even more.

Big G also teamed up with LiveNation & Yahoo! to stream the concert live, and, for free via the internet. Supporting acts of the night were ProbCause, Jackal, Michal Menert, and even a special set from Chicago-based producer, Manic Focus.

No genre was off-limits for Big G that night as they took their audience on a journey of a plethora of electronic beats that ranged from funk, dub-step, hip-hop and even house. The evening was filled with crowd favorites such as “The Night is Young,” “Touch the Sky,” “Just For The Trill,” as well as debuting the new songs such as “Get On Up” and remixes of Aloe Blacc’s “I need a Dollar,” and Notorious B.I.G.’s “Notorious Thugs.”

Big Gigantic proved once again that they are one of the hardest working duos in electronic dance music.
