One of the US’s most successful live electronic groups, Big Gigantic (Big G), graced the stage at University of Illinois’ main venue, The Canopy Club, on February 28th for a Fat Tuesday performance no attendee will soon forget. Fresh off releasing their new album, Brighter Future, the duo, comprised of Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken, played a hefty amount of new music, along with some old classics.
Typically, when a new album is released, it’s common artists play new tracks for most of the performance, which can be semi-disappointing when they don’t play those go-to tunes that their fans know so well. However, when it comes to Brighter Future, it’s a much different story, as it is one of year’s most well-produced albums. Period. Not to mention, it’s the first studio album produced on their own record label, Big Gigantic Music.
Brighter Future also draws some of the most cohesive collaborations in the electronic scene. From tracks like “C’mon” that feature their long-time B2B relationship with GRiZ, to the vocal-filled masterpieces like “The Little Things” with Angela McCluskey and “Got The Love” with Jennifer Hartswick, to “All of Me” which includes the rhymes and vocals of Logic & Rozes, Brighter Future is their most diverse album yet.
During Big G's Mardi Gras extravaganza at The Canopy Club, Music Festival Central reps Joe Chung, Nick Blaising, Garrick Peterson and Daniel Peterson (in collaboration with Music Festival Media and Garrick Film) captured the night's vibes to create a brief recap for your viewing pleasure. The montage features one of Brither Future's most popular tracks, "C'mon" (Feat. GRiZ).
