Bonnaroo Organizers Launch Inaugural WayHome Festival in Ontario, Canada

The rumors were true and the the word is out! The first annual WayHome Music & Arts Festival will be held July 24th – July 26th at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds near Barrie, Ontario, an expansive piece of land north of Toronto, Canada. This inaugural event promises to be a “kaleidoscope of sound, smell, colour, and spectacle.”

The WayHome Music and Arts Festival came to life through a collaboration between Canadian entertainment company Republic Live and US promoter, AC Entertainment (co-founders and producers of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, the Forecastle Festival, the Big Ears Festival and many other events). Comparable in size to Bonnaroo’s 700-acre Great Stage Park, Burl’s Creek is the largest festival ground in Canada. With the ability to accommodate over 80,000 music fans, the concert area will feature four stages, two of which will feature amphitheater-style grading to ensure no sound overlaps and everyone has a good view. The festival will also host a variety of attractions including late-night “spectacles and experiences,” original art installations, international and local cuisine, as well as an on-site farmers market.

Due to the fact WayHome will be held in the middle of the season, it is no secret that the festival will face tremendous competition across the board. Ashley Capps, CEO of AC Entertainment, remains confident that WayHome will be here for “many years to come”, and will be grown into an ideal setting for music fans. The lineup is also hard to ignore, and Capps says his team worked very hard to “craft an incredibly unique lineup with lots of different flavours.”

The lineup is massive, to say the least, and fans can expect 40 more artists expected to be added and announced in coming months. The current lineup includes headlining acts Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Alt-J, Modest Mouse and  Hozier.  Also on the bill for 2015 are Bassnectar, The Decemberists, Passion Pit, St. Vincent, Girl Talk, Vance Joy, Future Islands, The Sheepdogs, Odesza, The Gaslight Anthem, Walk The Moon, Run The Jewels, Kaytranada, Hey Rosetta!, G-Eazy, Sylvan Esso, Danny Brown, Cold War Kids, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Big K.R.I.T, July Talk, Fucked Up, Timber Timbre,Thousand Foot Krutch, METZ, Alvvays, Yukon Blonde, Courtney Barnett,Sloan, Delta Spirit, Broods, How to Dress Well, SZA, Viet Cong, Com Truise,Bear Mountain, Evening Hymns, Lowell, The Highest Order, Dear Rouge,Chris Stapleton, For Esme, and Saxsyndrum, and many more.
