Boombox, the funky duo out of Muscle Shoals, Alabama is about to kick off their 2015 winter tour and fans are ready for the heat they bring! Since 2004, Russ “the Captain” Randolph and Zion Rock Godchaux have displayed a truly exclusive blend of psychedelic rock, funk house, groovy instrumentals, blues and funky backbeats that get crowds moving.
Every Boombox show is unique in that these two talented producers, DJs, and multi-instrumentalists create a musical canvas with original bass and beats and then paint their masterpiece with smooth guitar, keys and vocals. At times you could say that its Disco meets House. The band feels the crowd out and plays off their energy. Godchaux has said “It’s all natural, it’s all in real time, and that’s why it’s Rock ‘n’ Roll”. Randolph has been quoted, “We just want to go out with no game plan. That way it’s fresh for us, and we can follow the energy of the crowd. We’re down to get down, and we hope that people are down with us.”
The band is starting their 2015 winter tour off by cruising through the midwest and two shows that are sure to be raging are at the Concord Music Hall in Chicago, IL. on Friday January 23rd and Saturday the 24th. Boombox is no stranger the the Chicago vibe and things are bound to get really groovy at one of Chicago’s premier music venues.
