Despite the not-so-San-Diego-like weather, attendees of CRSSD Fest weren't phased all this past March 2nd and 3rd. While most attendees used ponchos and official CRSSD Fest umbrellas to fight the rain, others just danced through the occasional showers. Rain or shine, CRSSD Fest sold out downtown's Waterfront Park yet again, however.
Embracing the CRSSD Festival culture, fans of every type of dance music were satiated with artists from multiple genres. House, techno, trance, jamtronica, etc., the festival promoters (FNGRS CRSSD) go to great lengths to appease the masses when it comes to the CRSSD Fest lineup. Headlining acts were held at a high standard as always, with ODESZA, Justin Martin, Lane 8, The Martinez Bros, Maetrik (live) and Phantogram on the top of the lineup. Other heavy hitters on the CRSSD 2019 lineup included Booka Shade (live!), David August, Armin Van Helden, Pan-Pot, Giorgia Angiuli, Doc Martin, Stephan Bodzin, Ladytron and more.
When it came to this year's stage layout, The Palms stage was packed for Justin Martin n friends. The Oceanview stage featured big guns ODESZA and Phantogram, while the City Steps stage featured fire techno by groups like Pan-Pot and The Martinez Brothers. It is odd, however; although the Oceanview stage offered a bigger dance floor, the real party always seems to be The Palms. Could be that Dirtybird fever?!
Boasting a versatile lineup throughout the years of the bi-annual festival's history, CRSSD has become known for its phenomena of bringing people together. In addition to the dope music people get to experience, the downtown location is perfect for dancing the night away. If you need a break, there's always the option of chilling out by the spawling fountains by The Palms. And, of course, there's usually beautiful weather.
Aside from the festival itself, there's also loads of pre and after parties that flourish through the city. This year's CRSSD After Dark lineup featured performances by Justin Martin, Will Clarke, Cut Snake, Booka Shade, Amtrac, Sonny Fodera, Eli & Fur, Pan-Pot, The Martinez Brothers, Whethan, Tourist and more. Participating local venues included Spin Nightclub, BangBang, the Music Box, the Hard Rock, Vin De Syrah, Kettner Exchange and RevelRevel.
Altogether, the CRSSD Fest experience is truly a unique one.
