Following the death of music legend David Bowie, what was originally being created as a tribute concert has now become a memorial concert. The event will take place this March 31st at New York City’s Carnegie Hall and will feature over 20 artists with the llikes of Cyndi Lauper,Jakob Dylan , Bettye LaVette, Perry Farrell, Robyn Hitchcock, The Roots, The Mountain Goats, Ann Wilson of Heart and Tony Visconti (House Band). This marks the 12th annual year that some of the most popular musicians in the world have gathered to pay tribute to Bowie.
A statement on the events website discloses, “The unexpected death of David Bowie has turned this tribute, which we have worked on for the past 7 months, into a memorial concert. While the series has featured surprise appearances and performances of honorees several times in the past, this year’s concert will certainly be remembered as a poignant celebration of his music by his friends, peers, and fans. We are all deeply saddened by this news. The timing of our public on-sale date is bizarre in its timing and the show is taking on many more emotions. R.I.P David and may god’s love be with you.”
Tickets are ON SALE for the show and are only going for $325. This seems to be fairly inexpensive considering how truly special this years event will be.
