Dead & Company Bring Folsom Field Boulder Back To Life!

by on

It has been over 15 years since the walls of Folsom Field at CU Boulder has felt the vibrations of any music.  Last night that silence became a pastime as Dead & Company took the stage in front of an ever so eager crowd.  Boulder, Colorado is no stranger to the hippie lifestyle and subculture of the Grateful Dead, and it seems as though last nights show proved to be a success.

Mass amounts of pot smoke rose from the field and the crowd began to dance as John Mayer took the lead vocals on  the set opener “Bertha”.  CU officials reported the 50,000 capacity stadium being a little over half capacity for the show leaving tons of room to dance, pass joints and not spill your beer.

Just like any other Grateful Dead offshoot, Dead & Company received some skepticism from the beginning. But as their 2016 tour gains momentum, Deadheads are taking a noticeable liking to the lineup of original members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kruetzmann, along with the additions of John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.  Fans have been commenting  across social media stating the the style of this band is compared to the 1970’s era of the Grateful Dead.  Last nights setlist was definitely spanning many generations of Grateful Dead music.  Take a peek at the video below to get a feel for the vibe.
