They say that home is where the heart is. Actually, home is where the heart grows. It’s where relationships are built, where self-expression knows no bounds, and where we discover things about life...ourselves...and the previously unknown. In this place, we gather with our brothers and sisters to celebrate the gift that is life on this planet.
Home is also where you’d go to shake your bones to 80 hours of nonstop house n’ techno. On April 26th - 30th, we return to Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, to the badass home that is Desert Hearts Festival.
Desert Hearts Records is one of the hottest house n’ techno labels rocking the West Coast electronic music scene. The core of the outlaw syndicate consists of "Papa" Lee Reynolds, brothers Mikey Lion and Porkchop, plus Marbs; each one as colorful as the last in terms of execution and selection on the decks. Their takeovers have lit up festivals and music venues across the US and beyond, drawing crowds of vibed-out party animals.
Desert Hearts' popularity has exploded in recent years, with their mantra of “house, techno, and love” echoing its way across the globe and reaching neighboring galaxies. The crown jewel of this house n techno empire is the Desert Hearts Festival.
Set in a high-desert forest oasis, the Desert Hearts Festival takes the boutique camping festival experience to a visionary level. The grounds themselves are pristine, blooming from a valley covered in shady pines and nestled between craggy mountain peaks. At Los Coyotes Indian Reservation there is a certain aboriginal energy to be felt, amplified by fat stacks of Funktion One sound, that works its way into your very spirit.
It was a shoo-in for DJ Mag to honor Desert Hearts Festival with the distinction of “Best Boutique Festival” for 2018. An actual no-brainer. Desert Hearts books consistently potent talent. Previous Desert Hearts lineup artists include Damian Lazarus, Kenny Glasgow, Acid Mondays, Dave Seaman, Justin Martin, David Scuba, Tim Engelhardt...the list is wild and extensive. The deepest and gnarliest house-n-tech cuts keep the festival’s heart pumping 24 hours a day...ragey techno nights smolder until they blossom into ethereal sunrise sets. Trust us, it's sheer magic.
Adding to the synesthetic pulse of the music, an intrinsic part of Desert Hearts Festival is stimulation of the mind, the heart, and the body. Visually, Desert Hearts strikes a psychedelic chord, with vibrant visual and interactive art installations throughout the grounds. At every turn, you’ll find live painters, fire spinners, marvels of all sorts to bring out your inner child.
Participation by festival-goers is highly encouraged, with offerings of drawing & painting, flow, yoga, movement arts classes, speakers and presentations to share with others and help express yourself. There’s even a Healing Sanctuary hosting various forms of healing included sound and crystal healing, Reiki, and energy work to elevate your vibrational frequency right back to the dance floor.
It’s truly the festival Southern California talks about all year: a space where community is built, best friends are made, where house and techno and love resonate through the air. Come home, to a place you can grow, with a family you didn’t know you had. We’re all Desert Hearts!
