DJ Justin James Inadvertently Gets Another DJ w/ a Similar Same Name Accused of Being Sexist

by on

It seems that DJ Justin James finally got called out for his role of being a sexist lowlife via an online group called “Support Female DJs.”  DJ Justin James went on the social media site, Facebook, to post what he called an “amazing” opportunity for a female DJ/producer to play at a nightclub. The post requested that the girls meet the physical requirements first and foremost, instead of DJ/producing skills.

When members of the group fired back at his bogus job posting, he stirred the pot even more by saying “If they wanted talented DJs, they would just hire men.”

To make his comments on Facebook even worse, he got another DJ with the same name dragged into the situation after YahooNews accidentally added a picture to the article with the caption that read “Justin James, World’s Most Hated DJ, Responds To Sexism Scandal in the Worst Possible Way.”  Only, Yahoo posted a picture of the wrong Justin James!unnamed (2)

Despite being up on the site for just 23 hours, the real Techno producer, Justin James, began to get bashed from all directions.

Yahoo has not yet posted an apology for the monumental mistake, but hopefully will soon.  As for DJ Justin James, he made a weak-attempt to apologize by sending this message on Facebook last week:

“Do I have your attention?

Ok, so everyone has been contacting me for my statement. Here it is, short and sweet… (maybe not so short). I was recently added to a “female support DJ group” in which I made a post that has now become very controversial and blown out-of-proportion.

I will start off by saying that – For those of you that have seen it, In retrospect, the post that I made was not the most tactful, but my intention was not malicious. I was given a very specific set of criteria to employ here in Asia and instead of wasting peoples time I decided to be honest and up front about the requirements. Unfortunately in this respect, people are not a fan of honesty and my post very obviously made some people angry. I’ve been debating on what to say and what to do…

The conclusion I feel upon was this; I can not control the thought-process and actions of others. I DO NOT CARE. I do not care about the opinions of what small minded people think or have to say. I have always battled this, but… I do not care if you like me or if you do not. I have always tried to keep it 100, and in doing this my life has led me to some pretty spectacular places.

I have two options at this point: Say nothing and let this fade away – hoping that people will forget in due time, or speak up and stick up for myself… Even if it is detrimental to my career. Everything we do in life is a gamble… Everything. Every time you board a plane, every time you eat out, every taxi you get in. This is a gamble that I am willing to take. I might be small in stature, but I am big at heart. I know in my heart that I did nothing wrong.

Let me make this parallel: In the entertainment industry, lets look at actors… You might be the best at what you do, but if you do not fit the bill then unfortunately that part is not for you. Sorry.

I was never putting down female DJs… Some of my favorite DJs / Producers are female… Miss Kittin (1982 – first record ever bought), Maya Jane Coles, Annie Mac,Anna Lunoe, Baby Anne, DJ Spinderella, Paris Hilton, that girl from Zach Efron’s new movie… The comment I made about “just hiring a man” was mis-placed sarcasm.. Also a personal message.

So, in summation… As I said in my personal message with the troll that staretd all of this; If you are offended by my words, I am sorry that I am not sorry. I am the FURTHEST thing from a misogynist. I am however guilty of being careless with the way I worded my post in aforementioned group.

Lastly, I have worked for many years to try and build up the DJ community. My goal has always been unity and respect. I am saddened that I have broken the internet the last few days with my words, but happy that the community has been able to unite for a cause much bigger than myself, that unfortunately I am at the moment a poster boy for, and that I have ignorantly been contributing to.

I have thick skin, so I can take it. However ill placed, these were my words and I will bare the consequences.”

Sounds to me he hasn’t learned anything and shows no signs of caring for what’s right and wrong.  I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before his negativity and sexism catches up with him in a big way.  Hopefully, they’ll get his name right when he screws up next time!

The real Justin James who has been catching all the heat for this misfortunate event had this to say:

The support I received today from near and far has been completely unbelievable. Tomorrow is absolutely another day and we should continue to celebrate the majority of amazing individuals who continue to be positive and inclusive in our amazing culture.
