As summer has come to an end and the birds start flying south as the air starts getting crisp, the music bookings don't seem to be coming to a halt. On Tuesday, September 26h, we are expecting a long awaited act to take the stage and blow our minds.
The live performance of the legendary Gorillaz is finally descending upon Colorado’s astonishing Red Rocks Amphitheater! Debuting their long anticipated HUMANZ album on this other worldly tour, they are putting out all the stops to ensure this is the best one yet by manifesting this virtual band into reality.
The band has been recognized for the quality of their sound. Their second album Demon Days (2005) went platinum six times in the UK and double platinum in the US. They have also won one Grammy Award, two MTV Video Music Awards, a NME Award, three MTV Europe Music Awards, and have been nominated for nine Brit Awards.
The Gorillaz rarely perform live; this is a show not to be missed, having been 7 years since their last tour, “Plastic Beach”. They rise once again and continue to astound all expectations. Unlike traditional groups, the Gorillaz do not exist in this reality — they are all fictional characters as opposed to caricatures of specific musicians, though Damon Albarn is its only permanent member. This allows room to have various musical contributors to their songs and special guests at their live events such as De La Soul, Danny Brown, Pusha T, Little Simz, Del the Funky Homosapien, Anthony Hamilton, Grace Jones, Zebra Katz and many other distinguished artists making appearances, truly creating an unbelievable performance.
Hip Hop artist, Vince Staples, will be gracing the stage as opening support, bringing a heavy West Coast sound to the Amphitheatre. Staples’ unique sound is a perfect blend for this showcase. He is sure to add any new listener to his ever growing fan list.
For those fortunate enough to have obtained tickets to this sold out event, you are in for a unimaginable musical and visual display.
