Since 1979 North America has not seen a total solar eclipse. For those willing to travel to Oregon in August of 2017, the continent’s first total solar eclipse in nearly 40 years awaits them as it graces the Oregon skies (Oregon will be the first state in North America it will be visible and the only state on the West Coast to witness the once-in-a-lifetime astronomical phenomenon). Perhaps the most fulfilling way to enjoy this upcoming part of history is by attending the celebratory gathering this August 17th – 23rd known as Oregon Eclipse.
Oregon Eclipse 2017 is being put on by a versatile team of creative minds that are responsible for a wide variety of musical gatherings around the world. Some of those events are a part of the Global Eclipse Gathering (made up of 11 festivals) and include Symbiosis Gathering in California, Envision Festival in Costa Rica, Bass Coast Festival in Canada, Re:birth Festival in Japan and many others. Needless to say, attendees will be in good hands when the 2-minute and 4-second moment of Totality occurs at 10:19AM (PDT) on August 21st.
Super Duper Early Bird tickets to Oregon Eclipse 2017 are on-sale for a steal until November 11th. As an added bonus, $2.50 of every experience pass sold until the Super Duper Early Bird sale ends will be donated to Winona LaDuke’s ‘Honor The Earth’ Foundation. Funds raised will benefit the Standing Rock movement and be used to help provide winter lodging for those battling the Dakota Access Pipelineon the frontlines. Thus far, more than $20K has been raised by attendees of the Oregon Eclipse from more than 60 different countries.
One of the Symbiosis Gathering curators, Kevin KoChen, had this to say on the matter:
“As we build excitement for one of the most amazing spectacles in nature, a different environment is afoot at Standing Rock. While we understand that there are many nuanced issues in play, we stand in solidarity and support this movement mobilizing to protect the Earth from unfettered corporate interests.
For every pass sold to Oregon Eclipse 2017 from now until Nov 11, we will be donating $2.50 to Winona LaDuke’s Honor The Earth Foundation. We are honored by their acceptance of our offering and hope to support their efforts so that sacred sites and water for all peoples may be protected.”
