Fiyawerx Productions turned up the heat this week with the announcement of their third annual Fiya Fest. This event highlights the heritage and culture that the Big Easy values so deeply through music, art, and food, giving you an is an eclectic mix of everything New Orleans. Fiya Fest will be held on Friday, May 1st, 2015 (during the second weekend of Jazz Fest) at Mardi Gras World, an impressive venue on the East Bank of the Mississippi River.
The one-day festival will feature performances by countless musicians on multiple stages and delicious boiled crawfish to keep you fueled for all the funk. This lineup is outstanding; not only is this event tailored to music enthusiasts from all walks of life, but the festival is itself is also a benefit to raise funds and awareness for local music-related charitable causes. The Roots of Music strive to empower New Orleans’ youth through music education, mentoring and academic support. By attending the festival, you will be supporting a wonderful program that is preserving and promoting the city’s unique musical and cultural heritage through its most vital asset, the children. New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic (NOMC) is a new addition to the fest’s charity donations, and the group offers affordable health care options for the musicians of New Orleans.
For two weeks each spring, music lovers from around the world flock to New Orleans for the city’s annual Jazz and Heritage Festival. It is a non-stop, city-wide celebration unlike any other. Aside from the fairgrounds where Jazz Fest is held, you will find concerts EVERYWHERE throughout the ‘Big Easy’ day and night.
