Next month, the world’s leading music company, Republic Records, and Twentieth Century Fox Television, come together to premiere their new show: STAR. The television show features new and original music performances and a variety of big names in Hollywood. Fox’s new show stars Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award, Grammy Award, and Golden Globe Award winner, Queen Latifah, Emmy Award nominee Benjamin Bratt, and newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady and Amiyah Scott. Also featured on the show are Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz,supermodel and actress Naomi Campbell, and Grammy award nominated musician and actor Tyrese Gibson.
Lee Daniels, Golden Globe and Academy Award nominee best known as co-creator and executive producer of broadcast’s No. 1 drama, Empire, has partnered with Tom Donaghy to create STAR. The show follows three singers with ambition for stardom and to escape from their pasts as they navigate through struggles of the fast-moving, cut-throat music business. They quickly realize that fame comes with a cost.
Star (Jude Demorest) is a strong young woman who rose up from the foster care system and decided to take control of her destiny. She tracks down her sister Simone (Brittany O’Grady) and Instagram friend Alexandra (Ryan Destiny) and together the trio decides to create a girl group. The trio travels to Atlanta in the hopes of becoming the next music superstars. Queen Latifah stars as Carlotta, godmother of the girls and surrogate mother to the crew that also includes Cotton (Amiyah Scott). Benjamin Bratt plays Jahil, a talent agent running out of luck looking to revitalize his career and who takes interest in Star.
