Fans at this weeks Sundance Film Festival were treated with the opportunity to view the premier of a new Frank Zappa documentary. The 90 minute flick “Eat That Question: Frank Zappa In His Own Words” is several years of Zappa footage from TV interviews and many forgotten performances from his 30 year career.
“Thorsten Schütte’s film is a sharply edited and energetic celebration of Zappa through his public persona, allowing us to witness his shifting relationship with audiences” as described by Sundance. Frank Zappa was as original as they come, always pushing the envelope at all times and wowing fans with new and unique styles in his performances. In the 90’s Zappa, was a huge advocate of ending music censorship. His self taught style, influenced by many different genres, was sometimes impossible to categorize as he journeyed through his 100 album career. He is most recognized for his influence in avant-rock, experimental jazz, progressive rock, electronic and classical. Over the years he has influenced bands with the likes of Black Sabbath, Phish and Jimi Hendrix.
We’re bound to see more opportunity to view this film as we have learned that Sony Pictures Films have closed a deal for the rights to the movie. Take a little peak at this preview to enjoy the legend of Frank Zappa.
