With just under 50 days remaining until Mysteryland USA returns to its glorious home on the rolling hills of Bethel Woods, New York, organizers have finally released the Mysteryland 2016 lineup by day. For its first official year as a three-day event, taking place June 10th-13th (Monday, June 13th you can chill) at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the festival is set to pack some big punches with arguably the best Mysteryland lineup yet. Main stage performances will end on a high note when French techno master, Gesaffelstein, as he is set to make his Mysteryland debut. Seattle-based electronic duo ODEZSA is also on the roster to deliver a dreamy, live set. The Big Top stage will be grooving all night with house and techno acts like MK, Joris Voorn, Amtrac, and Golf Clap tearing it up late into the night.
Friday also marks the addition of Mysteryland’s first ever comedy lineup, a festival trend made popular by established megafests like Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and Sasquatch! music festival. Kyle Mooney of SNL fame, will be bringing the laughs and a stellar cast of funny friends to the Spiegeltent, for a night of absurdity you won’t want to miss.
Skrillex headlines Saturday night, June 11th, with support from acts like Young Thug, The Chainsmokers and Tchami also making appearances on the main stage. Acid house legend, John Digweed, headlines the Spiegeltent, with acts like Lee Burridge, Jimmy Edgar, Mikey Lion and Deep Jesus, who among others will also be playing sets that night.
On Sunday, June 12th, Bassnectar will bring Mysteryland to an earthshaking close with his signature sounds like meld ethereal dreamscapes with bass blasting ferocity, a treat that’s sure to end this year’s festival on a high note. Toronto dubstep producers Zeds Dead make their Mysteryland debut, and electro-funk producer and saxophone player, GRiZ, graduates from The Boat to the Main Stage this year; yet another stop on his impressive list of festival bookings for this summer.
Dirtybird Records label boss, Claude VonStroke, brings his party pulsing house beats to The Big Top, with a combination of live acts and DJs set to takeover The Boat. The massive party will feature Ty Dolla $ign, Hudson Mohawke and Ryan Hemsworth; topping the list of reasons to swing by on the last day of Mysteryland USA 2016. Art Department is also set to play closing day, bringing their Tech house sounds to the Spiegeltent; offering another cool option for closing out the weekend in style.
New York production house, BangOn!NYC, returns for the third year, bringing all of their resident DJs in tow, as well as, their popular silent disco outpost that provides campers who wish to party until daylight with that much needed fix. The health-conscious festival-goer will want to check out the MXT Pop-up, where they can participate in mixed martial arts and deep house yoga classes on Saturday and Sunday.
So, if this hasn’t convinced you to spring for the three-day pass, perhaps knowing about Mysteryland’s philanthropic Earth Week plans will seal the deal. Mysteryland has committed a $10 donation from every three-day pass purchased to go toward bottled water for students at Newark Public schools following the discovery of elevated lead levels in taps of more than 30 public schools. Your Mysteryland tickets ensure that school children in New Jersey have fresh drinking water on a daily basis, so buy that wristband with pride knowing that your dollars go a long way!
This year, Mysteryland will also promote sustainability and environmental consciousness through initiatives like shuttles, staff bicycles, a recycling program, selling reusable water bottles to be used at free water stations throughout the venue and campgrounds. Finally, a reseeding program that ensures that Bethel Woods remains green and beautiful following this year’s festivities.
