For festival fans who are unaware, there is a band who has played a role in music subculture and festival family life for 50 years.  That band is The Grateful Dead.  Recently announced is a three show event to be held at Chicago’s Soldier Field on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th, marking the band’s last ever performance together.

Original members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, and Bob Weir will be joined by Phish’s Trey Anastasio on lead guitar, Jeff Chimenti on keys, and Bruce Hornsby on piano.

To show the love, Fare Thee Well tickets will go on sale to the general public via Ticketmaster this Valentine’s Day, February 14th, at 10AM (CST).  A “mail order” method will begin January 20th through Dead50.net and Dead pre-sale tickets will be available on February 12th through Dead Online Ticketing at 10AM (CST).

Some fortunate Grateful Dead and Phish fans will have a chance to get in the pit directly in front of the stage for only $99.50.  Reserved seating tickets for the Fare Thee Well run will range from $59.50 – $199.50.  As an added bonus for those who are able to purchase Fare Thee Well tickets by mail order or through Dead Online Ticketing, they will receive commemorative art to cherish this magical moment forever.
