Returning to Miami Beach for its fourth year, GroundUP Music Festival will take place at the North Beach Bandshell over Valentine’s Day weekend, February 14-16, 2020. Hosted by Grammy Award-winning Snarky Puppy, GroundUP is anything but your typical music festival experience. Besides a featured set from the band each day, the festival boasts an impressive array of international talent, including legendary songwriter and pianist Michael McDonald from The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, Chris Potter, psychedelic funk band Lettuce, and an acoustic set from Michael League and Jamison Ross.
Also represented are artists from Columbia, Brazil, Chile, and Greece, making the festival a showcase of diverse global music.
With room for less than 2,000 attendees, GroupUP offers patrons an intimate beach gathering where artists and fans have a chance to interact in a family-friendly atmosphere. Besides just music, the festival also offers other unique activities such as songwriting classes, guitar clinics, and other music workshops.
Here's a look at GroupUP 2019's recap:
Snarky Puppy bandleader and festival curator, Michael League, described his vision of the festival by saying, “My vision for the festival is for people to maybe not recognize many artists on the bill but end up with a list of new artists they've discovered. That's the dream for me -- to have people come and experience everything blind, in a very pure and open-minded way.”
