With just 10 days until the start of the first-ever Rapture Electronic Music Festival, anticipation is growing by the moment. The inaugural bash is will be held at Virginia Key Beach for one incredible day on March 23rd. In preparation for the big day, co-founder, Youssef Khamis, was kind enough to answer some questions we had about Rapture 2017:
MFC: What's your background in curating festivals? How many have you curated? Which ones?
YK: This is our first music festival as Rapture, however, all Rapture team members have been deeply involved with Miami's night scene whether clubs and/or music events.
MFC: Are Miami Music Week, Ultra Miami, WMC and Rapture affiliated in any way? Why compete against 3 other long-time running festivals in the immediate vicinity?
YK: We are not affiliated in any way, we have tremendous respect and admiration for Miami Music Week, Ultra Miami and WMC. Our goal is not to compete but to create a new experience by sharing our passion while providing a relaxed experience.
MFC: What were some of the challenges curating the lineup?
YK: We do not believe in challenges as we see infinite possibilities and we create our reality. Therefore, our belief system was reflected on the artists who loved the idea and concept from the moment mentioned.
MFC: What about Rapture makes it different than other electronic music festivals going on in the area?
YK: What makes Rapture different is the experience. We are not only providing patrons with good music but also a spiritual experience. We will offer yoga classes, positive vibrations, massage therapists, Thai massage, chair massage, henna and body anointment, tarot card reader, Reiki practitioner, water floating lounges and beach front experience.
MFC: Are you anticipating a sold-out crowd?
YK: We are anticipating the best experience, it would be great to have a sold-out crowd!
MFC: What can people expect to be blown away by if they attend?
YK: The atmosphere and experience.
