July is a likable month for the majority of the masses. Besides festival season being in full swing, by month seven we are presented with an array of other pleasant options such as 9PM sunsets and extra passport stamps. When it comes to the festivals though, it can be difficult to narrow down the options as there is seemingly a festival for everything…everywhere…constantly.
If you’re looking for the next vegan-nudist-event, I might be able to help. However, if you’re absolutely stark-raving mad for carefully curated ‘basshead’ gatherings governed by the laws of 170 BPM, then what can I say? This one’s definitely for you.
There are several reasons I will drop everything at the end of July to clear my calendar for the almighty Let It Roll 2016. Reason one is location; bringing with it: sound! Set in an ex-military airfield space, Let It Roll is surrounded by the vastness of Central Bohemia and has no holds on volume. Remember that festival downtown that ended at midnight because it was too loud for the residents? ‘Too loud’ doesn’t exist at Let It Roll; and with unlimited space, there is seemingly no cap on the possibility of expansion. That means plenty of room for the Eatbrain stage, plenty of space for the RAM arena, and plenty of square footage for the Hospitality juncture.
An equally appealing quality Let It Roll’s location has is its proximity to Prague. With endless shuttle buses and trains between the capital city and the festival, Let It Roll boasts the inclusion of visiting one of the most architecturally beautiful cities in the world. Before you head towards the DNB mecca, you may choose to unwind in a Czech Rasta-bar, have a beer in a fascinating underground pub, or soak up the baroque architecture that compromises this fairytale city.
For reason two, let’s talk about the Let It Roll lineup. Have you ever seen one that doesn’t fit on a one-page poster? Released in six phases, with each new announcement bigger than the prior, the 250+ announced artists featured in the Let It Roll 2016 lineup are listed together on the massive “double flyer.” The page is dominated by the festival’s 8 colossal headliners which include Pendulum, Chase and Status, Wilkinson and Andy C, with Noisia, Camo & Krooked, High Contrast and Netsky rounding out the main stage performances. This stage will be, as of yet, the biggest stage that the Czech Republic has ever seen and incredibly fitting for the drum and bass fiasco.
Aside from the obvious, the festival itself offers plenty of extracurricular R & R zones, an array of activities including a skate zone, the option to camp plus showers, VIP terraces, and all your necessary festival amenities. For those who can bear it to sunrise, the sunrise behind the festival is a lovely welcome into the next day and a soft, pleasant contrast to a night of heavy bass.
Additionally, Exit and Focuz Recordings will be hosting respective label nights along with a 10 Years of Med School and Neurofunkgrid stage. Dozens upon dozens of more performers will round out the remainder of the line-up along with fantastic visual content in various forms around the festival. All headliners at the festival will be performing DJ sets.
Let It Roll will be taking place 28-30 of July in Milovice, Czech Republic. Travel buses are available from various European locations and are easily accessible for travelers. Did I say travel bus? I meant an absolute banger of a party bus sure to set the mood for your arrival. The buses will depart from the following 14 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, and the UK. This is seemingly the best option for anyone looking for the maximum amount of drum and bass next weekend. Alternatively, Vaclav Havel in Prague is an easy setting off point for any hotels or the event.
