This past weekend the internationally acclaimed DJ and producer, Kissy Sellout, showed Chicago his crafty maneuvers and lightning-fast live mixing at Sound-Bar in the heart of downtown. Playing on not 2, not 3, but 4 Pioneer decks seemed easy for the talented crowd-pleaser. Before Kissy was known for his sounds, he studied graphic design at one of the top art schools in the UK, so it’s understandable that he would have a certain gift when it came knowing his way around a computer. But WOW, to see someone control 4 decks for an entire show like it was a walk through the park was truly amazing to witness in concert.
His high energy and memorable samples kept the fans bumping through his whole set. Lasers, smoke machines, and incredibly beautiful girls dancing on each side of the DJ booth helped visually build the true club experience that night. For Kissy Sellout it just another day in the life to play parties til 5am, but for even the most famed DJ and producers, the method of how he did it will always be impressive to say the least. One thing is for certain…Kissy Sellout is someone you must see live!
Kissy also has a radio show where he unleashed mix after mix for fans of his famed Kissy Klub and those who respect the art of mixing. As imagined, Pioneer is one of his biggest fans. Youtube has an extensive collection of videos demonstrating Kissy’s raw skills behind top-of-the-line Pioneer products.
Music Festival Central and Da Vibez were lucky enough to sit down with Kissy for an interview to discuss his career along with his future plans for producing new music. There is talk that he may be visiting the US for New Year’s Eve, however, nothing has been confirmed. If that is the case, make sure you get to that show if you have the chance because it is sure to be one of the best times the US will have to offer on NYE. Until then, Kissy releases new music via multiple channels online including SoundCloud.
