Australian electronic duo Lastlings have just unveiled the release date for their anticipated debut album, First Contact, arriving November 20. The 12-track masterpiece comes after the release of hit singles off the album, such as “Déjà vu”, “I’ve Got You”, “Take My Hand”, and “No Time”. With over three years in the making, Lastlings invite listeners to experience their beautifully complex journey through dark-pop, melodic tech, and beyond.

The album centralizes around a theme of “firsts”, showcasing important milestones throughout ones life, with Lastlings adding: “First Contact is all the moments we experience for the first time, how special they are and how important they are in shaping us as people. It is about those beautiful moments when we feel love for the first time, a child taking its first steps or travelling to a new destination. It’s also about the somber moments in our life where we have lost something or someone for the first time and how we grow and change from these. We hope that this album sparks all the beautiful and important memories, feelings and emotions that you felt when you experienced something for the first time.”

Accompanying the album announcement, Lastlings also premiered a captivating trailer, offering a glimpse into the essence of the project. Paying homage to their cultural heritage which greatly influences their music, the short film was shot in Japan featuring Japanese narration. Set against a backdrop of apocalyptic scenes, the video demonstrates Lastlings’ fascination with dystopian futures and becoming the last beings on Earth.
