Marco Benevento Shreds The Seaside Sessions

by on

While many of us are bundled up, hiding from the cold, there are a series of shows named the Seaside Sessions held on Miami Beach at the North Beach Bandshell.  No need for big winter jackets, mittens or moon boots at these shows.  Last night, just a stones throw away from the water, fans were boogying down to funky beats of Marco Benevento.

Benevento, a man behind the black and whites is always hard at work.  When he’s not on tour, he’s neck deep at the Fred Short Studios in Upstate New York or working with his record label The Royal Potato Family, which is stacked with notable artists such as Neal Casal,  Stanton Moore, The New Mastersounds, Yellowbirds and more.  In recent history, Benevento has played with his band, the Benevento Russo Duo and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, the latter of which is a highly acclaimed and respected tribute to The Grateful Dead.

Currently touring with Ween bassist Dave Dreiwitz and drummer Andrew Borger, the three are set to hit a batch of stages on the west coast, before jumping back to home territory on the east coast.  As seen in this video, Benevento tears the keys up in his traditional fashion on his ever so funky jam “Limbs Of A Pine”.  If you are any fan of experimental jazz, funk and jam, you will appreciate this little gem and make a point of seeing the next Marco Benevento show in your neck of the woods.
