Movement Electronic Music Festival (Movement Detroit) celebrated its 10th anniversary this past Memorial Day weekend, spanning from May 28th – 30th. Located along the Detroit River in Hart Plaza, and peering across to Windsor, Canada, Movement Detroit offers its patrons a unique set of festival grounds, surrounded by breath-taking views in every direction. In accordance with the festival’s lengthy stay, event curators at Paxahau stopped at nothing to lock in an unbelievable Movement Detroit 2016 lineup.
Artists featured in this year’s Movement Detroit lineup included Kraftwerk 3D, Seth Troxler, Dubfire, Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, Boys Noize, Mija, RZA ft. Stone Mecca, J. Phlip, Stacey Pullen, Green Velvet, GET REAL (Claude VonStroke + Green Velvet), Heidi, Adam Beyer, Art Department, Four Tet, Caribou, Carl Craig, Joseph Capriati, Kevin Saunderson, Loco Dice, Maceo Plex, Tale of Us and many more.
In addition to be known for having such a well-diverse, extensive festival lineup, Movement Detroit is home of what is considered by many as the after party capital of the US. Famous Detroit bars & venues like TV Lounge, City Club, The Masonic Temple and Old Miami are turned into a mecca for locals and festival attendees to party until their bodies won’t move to the groove any longer. Headlining acts like Dirtybird Records boss Claude VonStoke, Detroit house music legend Seth Troxler, the always-hard-working Eligh of Soul Clap, internationally acclaimed Lee Foss, Chicago’s Black Madonna and many more do anything they can to keep the crowd moving the entire weekend.
Music Festival Central photographer, Daniel Peterson, documented the historical occasion in Movement Electronic Music Festival’s career by capturing stills for nearly five days straight.
