Since 1959, Newport Folk Festival has celebrated some of the most notable artists of the Folk genre. This year’s Newport Folk is held July 25th – 27th and take place at a beautiful ocean-side venue called Fort Adams State Park located in Newport, Road Island.
With four-stages of music, and a lineup including Jack White, Jeff Tweedy, Ryan Adams and more, Newport Folk Festival is going to be one of the better venues to see some of the best musicians in the business!
While the Fort Adams State Park does not offer camping, many parks within walking distance to the festival are available. Hotels are of course another option, especially if you’re trying to beat the heat. Parking is available on-site for a fee. Transportation to the venue is also available via Bike, Water Shuttle and Rideshare.
Celebrating all forms of art, Newport Folk Festival hosts a variety of contemporary art installations that can be found scattered throughout the festival grounds. Food and craft tents can also be found throughout the park, including the Quad Beer Garden where you can play beer pong and enjoy other activities whiled cooling off with a large selection of locals beers. The festival also offers attendees a chance to jam at the Martin Jam Stage, guitars and banjos supplied!
Newport Folk Festival also features a wide variety of child-friendly activities. The Family Stage will feature many family-oriented artists and surprise performances from the main stage.
The festival offers all general admission seating. Bring your own low back-chair, no greater than 30”, and lounge throughout the park, or if you make it to the The Fort Stage early enough, the stage provides limited seating on a first come first serve basis.
