Since its inception in 1999, the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a one day concert event, expanding to cover four stages and showcase over a hundred food, art, and merchandise vendors.
Continuing its sixteen-year tradition of providing a refreshingly varied selection of local and national acts, this year’s headliners include the Foo Fighters, Outkast, 30 Seconds to Mars, Lauryn Hill, and Slayer. The New Orleans offerings include the frenetic twerking of “Bounce Queen” Big Freedia, the trombone-heavy rock of Bonerama, and the incredible charisma and skill of local legend Trombone Shorty.
The 2014 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience beings on October 31st and continues through November 1st and 2nd.
With four stages showcasing dramatically different styles of music – including over 75 acts total – there’s always something to suit just about anyone. In between sets, the fantastic assortment of New Orleans food and art booths is a wonderful way to relax and enjoy a little taste of the Crescent City.
Moving beyond the official offerings, one of the best experiences at Voodoo Fest is always the crowd itself. The diverse assortment of acts invariably draws fans of all ages and musical genres from around the world, and the Halloween spirit is extremely visible in the elaborate, creative, and often absolutely outlandish variety of costumes.
