Netflix’s “Stranger Things” Soundtrack Drops Today

Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, members of S U R V I V E, an experimental synth band from Austin, scored a two-part soundtrack for the uber popular “Netflix Original Series, Stranger Things”.  The first of the two volumes will be digitally released today and the second volume on August 19th   via Lakeshore records.

S U R I V E, a band who is no “stranger” to the music festival circuit, has graced the stages of Moogfest, Levitation Fest, Fun Fun Fun, Beserktown, Day in The Desert, Decibel and more.  Furthermore, they have played alongside big acts with the likes of Goblin, John Maus, Tame Impala, Lightning Bolt, This Will Destroy You, A Place To Bury Strangers and Max Cooper.

The bands mysterious, dark and dreamy synth sound is a perfect fit for the Sci-Fi thriller and really adds to the excitement of the show.  “The directors were previously fans of S U R V I V E. They used a song from our first LP in a trailer they made to pitch their concept to Netflix. Once the show was picked up, they reached out to see if we were available to score the show,” Dixon stated. Stein added, “We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn’t ’80s cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern. This was one of the qualities that drew them to our music in the first place. Having a familiarity with classic synths worked, but with an overall forward thinking approach.”

If you haven’t seen stranger things, you simply should.  It is” E.T.” meets “Stand By Me” meets “The Goonies” and will not only have you freaking out but laughing your ass off and shedding a tear.  This Sci-Fi thriller takes place in a small Indiana town in 1983, where a boy vanishes into thin air and when friends, family and police go searching for answers, they are drawn into an insane mystery involving top-secret governmental experiments, supernatural forces and a young girl with special powers.

Once you get a taste of the incredible acting of Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Matthew Modine, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton, along with this awesome plot, you will be immediately hooked.  You’ll see that the character Dustin’s one-liners are enough to keep you coming back for more.
