Prince does what he wants. After performing a series of surprise shows with his band 3RDEYEGIRL last year in Europe, the singer is now extending his ‘Hit and Run’ tour to the United States. He’ll be kicking it off on March 14 with four sold out shows Louisville, Kentucky, giving a cut of the show’s proceeds to local charities. No other US dates have been announced, but they are expected to be unveiled spontaneously throughout the country on very short notice. Last year’s series of suprise ‘Hit and Run’ shows were announced last minute via Twitter, but Prince has since deleted and removed all of his social media accounts. Given the nature of this tour, fans should pay close attention to any Prince-related outlets if they want to catch a show in the future.
To celebrate the tour extension here in the US, yesterday Prince debuted a brand new song called “What If?” on Louisville radio station WFPK. The track is Prince’s first new song since he released his solo album Art of Official Age and his inaugural album with 3RDEYEGIRL, Plectrumelectrum last year.
