Pulse Portal, a unique sculpture on its way to Burning Man 2016, will be available for viewing at the Pulse Portal Preview Party this Friday, August 5 from 9pm-4am at Catalyst in Chicago. With Burning Man right around corner (August 28th – September 5th), you don’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see a piece of art worthy of the annual event.
Pulse Portal Preview Party itself is a fundraiser to help finish building and transporting what will become the prestigious Center Camp passage archway at the Burning Man Gathering this year in Black Rock City, NV. The Pulse Portal, designed by a team of artists lead by Davis McCarty and Matt Hensel, shines like a diamond in the sun, but will have a custom interactive light show, programmed to respond with participants as they walk through the giant creation.
When it comes to talent worthy of playing in, around, and/or near this one-of-a-kind work of art, just recently after dropping his new album, Ochre, on Emancipator’s label, Loci, Chicago-native, Edamame, will be performing a set that will have people downloading the album right then and there. Pulse party will also host other musicians including My Boy Elroy, Inphinity, RJ Pickens, Colin Tylor is Dead, Jason Maek, Melody Hunter, Cena, Mr. Automatic, Redux DJs and Taylor Norris.
Besides the two rooms of musicians, the venue will be deck-out with secret lounges (including a mystery lounge and hookah lounge), interactive art, fire spinning and burlesque battles. Plus, document the night by taking pictures inside the photo booth.
Sporting a 10,000 sq. ft. production space geared for large scale art projects, the venue will serve as a good enough reason to come out to a fundraising event, on its own. However, the combination of amazing music, vibes and visuals infused with this exclusive space, is going to be an underground art and music playground you won’t want to miss.
Finished portions of the Pulse Portal will be on display as the backdrop of the DJ booth. Smaller pieces of the original Dichotic Acrylic will be made into jewelry and raffled off. Tickets are $20 for early bird access if you make the purchase by August 5th. After the 5th, the price jumps up to $57.50. When you purchase a ticket, you can expect the address of the venue to be emailed to you the day of the event.
