People say that Pumpkin DJ sets are responsible for “ginormous smiles.” A select mix of genres that will make you dance like no one’s watching. They, whoever they are, are right. The track selection at Flagstaff, Arizona’s famed Orpheum Theater last Friday night, November 14th, had everyone paying attention, thinking twice about the next time they play a party. The track selection bridged the gap between making your mother dance, and those vibes that came out and upset the music industry.
Nicholas “Pumpkin” Alvarado, is responsible for setting a mood. The mood is a combination of love, with a sliver of the deep house, and a physical vibe. The people dance with a freedom that is only plausible with the right mindset; a mindset of freedom.
Pumpkin’s modern show is a compilation of indie songwriter mixes that trickles into dance music. Inescapable dance music, that is. Everyone moves. People truly seemed like they were stuck in a grove for the entire show. Pumpkin ropes you in, and then they dance, they all dance.
