What more could you want the week of Halloween? Haunting psychedelic string late nights, alternating stages that can’t stop, won’t stop, thousands of people committed to the costume, campgrounds right in the festival, a casual skatepark? The obvious answer that takes care of all one's holiday wishes is Hangtown Music Festival (commencing October 25th - 28th in Placerville, CA).
The Hangtown Festival lineup always impresses having survived the curation of Railroad Earth themselves. Three (3) nights of Railroad Earth, none of which I’ll be missing, plus Les Claypool & Sean Lennon as The Claypool Lennon Delirium, Trampled by Turtles (their slower stuff melts hearts by the way), The Infamous Stringdusters (anyone say hoedown?), Karl Denson's Tiny Universe Presents Eat a Bunch of Peaches (oh snap!), and my personal favorite Tahoe locals the Dead Winter Carpenters.
The thing about the Hangtown 2018 lineup is how good the entire roster is. I’m willing to put my faith in anything they put on stage.
“Hey Captain Nowhere, where we going to?”
“We’re headin to the Hangtown Ball”
Having attended more festivals than a healthy adult should, I have high standards. Hangtown is worth your time.
