DIRTYBIRD fans have become familiar with the name ‘Scavazza’—the Brazilian talent made waves in 2019 with his debut single on the label’s Miami compilation. He returns now for an EP from the left field, ‘Shake Your Hearts,’ with NYC legend Harry Romero on remixing duties.
‘Shake Your Hearts’ lands outside the usual DIRTYBIRD sonic range, creating sentimentality via a dewy melody. Playfulness still remains, however, in the namesake track's quirky sound effects. Harry Romero puts his vibrant touch on the remix, rebuilding 'Shake Your Hearts' from the bottom up with heavy bass and a brand new hook.
“Hey” picks up the pace, steering toward the driving, minimal direction with prominent drum patterns and bits of vocal sprinkled in. All three compositions on ‘Shake Your Hearts’ are among DIRTYBIRD’s most off-kilter releases on the year, showcasing Claude VonStroke’s consistent drive to bring cutting edge new sounds into the label fold.
Scavazza's a promising new talent out of Brazil, with past experience on DIRTYBIRD via their 2019 Miami compilation, and a single on Sony. He now has support from 'Shake Your Hearts' remixer Harry Romero—a legend dating back to NYC's halcyon days and owner of the Bambossa imprint.
