If you snoozed on Shambhala Music Festival tickets yesterday, you might have a hard time “going home” to Salmo River Ranch this summer. Online tickets for the annual electronic music festival, which is set to place August 5-8 outside of Nelson, British Columbia, sold out rapidly after an announcement was made by organizers that only 10 percent of the approximately 11,000 tickets remained. While Shambhala is no stranger to sell-out crowds, this development comes as a surprise to many considering that the Shambhala 2016 lineup announcement is still weeks away. This is the earliest sell-out in the festival’s 19-year history.
Shambhala Music Festival is a unique gem in an oversaturated sea of summer events. Taking place on a picturesque, privately owned cattle ranch, Shambhala continues to exist as an independently produced event. Their strict no-alcohol policy and free on-site drug testing have also garnered attention from international thrill seekers and reputable media outlets.
The 2015 event featured performers across six stages spanning a number of electronic dance music genres including acts like Excision, Datsik, GRiZ, Jauz, Bonobo, Claude VonStroke and many more. For fans that refuse to miss out on this year’s madness, a limited number of tickets have been reserved for attendees who wish to include Shambhalodging packages in their purchase. When guests add a lodging package to their online cart, they will be presented with the option to purchase tickets as well.
For Canadian locals, there are a few storefront retailers selling extremely limited tickets including Big Cranium in Nelson, BC, Grassroots in Calgary, AB and Hemp City in Kelowna, BC. For more Shambhala 2016 ticket information, please visit the festival’s website.
