Perhaps the most unique electronic music festival in Canada, Shambhala Music Festival, is finally just two short weeks away. Shambhala 2017 will mark the 20th year the festival will be celebrating life and music near Nelson, B.C. The big celebration is set to commence at its home (which is preserved year-round, mind you) at the Salmo River Ranch this August 11th (Friday) - August 14th (yes, that's a Monday!).
It's possible you may be thinking what I was thinking the first time I found out Shambhala actually kept the party going strong through Monday. To those attending, try to save some energy for one of the only Monday-Fundays on our calendars.
Speaking of energy, get ready for some of the best vibes you've ever experienced at a music festival. One of the main reasons I feel that's the case is because Shambhala is dry festival (meaning booze is outlawed). Some of you may be thinking "what, no booze?!" Trust me on this one, folks, this one rare trait goes a long way when it comes to the overall cleanliness of the festival grounds, as well as, the cleanliness of the vibes going around the festival grounds. No one is hungover (well, far less than other festivals), no one is seen arguing, not too many people are belligerent, and, oh yeah, the portapotties are gleaming and ridden of drunk people leaving them a rye.
Another unique trait of Shambhala is their firm support and promotion of harm-prevention. On-site, you can find their harm-prevention tent that is dedicating to identifying substances. Shambhala also offers a "Sanctuary" for those who need to get away from the festival and just chill.
When it comes to taking care of what your musical heart desires, the Shambhala 2017 lineup includes A-Trak, Justin Martin, JAUZ, Chris Lake, J. Philp, Illenium, Liquid Stranger, The Truth, Beats Antique feat. David Satori and Sidecar Tommy, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Opiou, The Orb, Datsik, Jai Wolf, Slushi, Rich-E-Rich, Billy Kenny and many more. Needless to say, shit's gonna be cray.
As some of you may know, Shambhala tickets sold out right away nearly a year ago. On the other hand, there are social media groups that may have Shambhala 2017 tickets up for grabs, but be careful who you're buying them from.
If you make it you can look forward to trying to win a prize worth $1,500 (CAD) by taking a picture of an epic disco nap in progress. Yup, Shambhala is having a disco nap photo contest and anyone can play. For more details click HERE.
To sum things up, there's really something special waiting for you this year at Shambhala. Hope to see you out there!
