Shambhala : Festival Preview

There are things about Shambhala that make it stand out from every fesitval out there. The thing is, Canadians know how to get down. Really down. Shambhala today represents one of Canada’s biggest underground electronic festivals.
To begin with, Shambhala has no corporate sponsors. It’s as “grassroots” as it gets. The entire festival ,for good reason, has spread quite literally by word of mouth. The organizers keep things local, organic, and run on volunteers. Volunteers flock and most positions fill quickly. Volunteering equals Shambalove, an unrepenting force sufficient to change a life or two. There is an entire team of Shambassadors that are in charge of making sure everyone is having a good time. It is amazing way to ditch the phone, computer, and office in exchange for yourself, a sense of community, bass, and nature.
Shambhala is a community. A community built for community enjoyment. Within this  community, the 6 stage directors create 6 unique stages that bring about completely different vibes. Shambhala is like no other festival.
This year’s line up includes, most notably, A Moby DJ set, rumors of multiple Griz appearances, Beats Antique and Emancipator. On the Trap front: Tropkillaz fresh out of Brazil, and What So Not. A couple from Dirty Bird Records (Justin Martin, and J. Phlip) will  keep it going long into the night. Maybe, just maybe, you’re after more than music from an artist. Lucent Dosier Experience changes lives, and Beardyman is something you will never forget.
When the cleansing calls, the pristine Salmo river high up in the Kootenays delivers. The Salmo River Ranch offers some of the most beautiful festival conditions in the perfect weather of British Columbia’s summer.
A note on portapottie scrawl, Shambhala’s could be the most insightful, hilarious, and thought provoking wisdom ever to be graffitied . Shambhala has documented both weddings and engagements at the farm. I almost forgot to mention onesie day. 8,000 people in onesies? Yes please. Things like this make Shambhala the crazy awesome festival that it is.
