Just recently, team Pretty Lights announced more details surrounding the very first stop on the “episodic festival” showcase kicking off in Gilford, New Hampshire this August 5th & 6th. Main details of the announcement include the official release of single-day tickets and daily artist lineups! Single-day tickets start at just $59.75 (including all fees!) for General Admission and daily artist lineups are as followed:
Friday – Pretty Lights, Tipper, G Jones, Marvel Years and Outlet
Saturday – Pretty Lights, Atmosphere, Big Wild, Brasstracks and Wax Future
With all these amazing artists it’s hard to choose just one day to attend; especially when Tier 1 early bird 2-day passes are still available and only a mere $25 more than single-day passes ($85.50 total). For those that do have to choose between the two amazing days of music and good vibes, let’s take a look at the supporting artists for each day.
One of most well-known acts in the ensemble of supporting talent is Dave Tipper (aka Tipper), who plays Friday night around sunset. Tipper, started catching some steam around the turn of the century with sounds truly of his own. Since then, he has been brought back to venues and festivals time and time to demonstrate his rare abilities behind the decks. One captivating characteristic of his overall performance are his signature Twilight Sets, which is what audience members will get to witness on August 5th. As the sun begins to set, these mesmerizing sets carry audience members into the dark and onward to the night’s adventures.
Also performing Friday is the electronic music producer Greg Jones, commonly known as G Jones. This grime and trap DJ is well known for his work with popular names such as Bassnectar, Bleep Bloop and The Widdler. 2015 was a big year for G Jones as he gained a worldwide following and he continues to rise in the musical world playing big name events and festivals.
Cory Wythe, the young mind behind Marvel Years, is a glitch-hop/electro-soul music producer and guitarist. He is leaving his mark on the electronic music scene with his creative approach to the decks by featuring a mix of electronic beats and soulful chords from his guitar. This unique hybrid of sounds is what leads Marvel Years to make a name for himself within a scene that is growing ever-so quickly. Cory’s Friday night appearance in New Hampshire will be an exciting event for him, as one of his first live performances was at a Pretty Lights show in 2013.
Jonathan Belfontaine, otherwise known as Outlet, is a self-taught Electronic and Hip-Hop producer and a New Hampshire native. Although he started of preforming in different rock bands, it was electronic music that inspired him to make his own 16-track sequencer in 1997, which eventually lead to his current creativity. His music integrates, hip hop, soul, funk, and trance to produce as he describes it on his Facebook page, “dance oriented, groove inspired, glitch style music” that is “energetic, passion, and fun.”
Ant (Anthony Davis) and Slug (Sean Daley), otherwise known as Atmosphere, have been on the radar for years now and do nothing short of captivating the audience yet again on Saturday, August 6th. Since 1989, the Minnesota-based duo has released 8 albums and are expected to release another one sometime this August. Since 2001, they have been touring and playing with a live band and have taken the festival scene by storm.
Jackson Stell, also known as Big Wild, creates a sound that makes people want to dance. With no exact genre of music, Big Wild produces a variety of sounds that emit good vibes, chill vocals, and deep bass. The combo will be a perfect fit in New Hampshire when he performs on Saturday night.
Another duo taking the stage on Saturday night is comprised of Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne, otherwise known as Brasstracks., Although the group is new to the festival circuit, they’re sure to make a good impression on-stage with their new wave approach on electro-funk by pairing an electronic drum kit with a trumpet.
Wax Future (Keith Watsworth, Connor Hansell and Jamal Rab) delivers audience members a collective of hip-hop and electro-soul music that is truly unique. The trio’s main influences to create the music they do are none other than some of the pioneers in the music scene and include the likes of Pretty Lights, Gramatik, GRiZ and Manic Focus. Wax Future’s Saturday showcase is not to missed as it is a true pleasure to witness the group merge the sounds of the greats with a collective of blues, jazz, rock and funk music, and, the use of a melodic synthesizer to bind it all together.
With sounds from all over the spectrum, the Pretty Lights New Hampshire “episodic festival” will not fail to impress. Grab your tickets now!
