As Spring blossoms, Chicagoans prepare for a calendar filled with block parties, summer concert tours and an abundance of special events. For entertainment lovers, Chicago is the perfect place for music where one can find a festival or sought-after producer sweeping through its concrete crevices every steamy weekend. When trying to coordinate plans this season, there is one music festival that should be on every EDM lover's bucket list.
Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) returns for its annual celebration as the Midwest's premier EDM festival. The three-day event will take place in Chicago’s grassy Addams-Medill Park on June 9-11. Boasting a massive lineup including Afrojack, Diplo, Alesso, Marshmello, Armin van Buuren, JAUZ, Datsik, Benny Benassi, Gorgon City, Duke Dumont, Galantis, Rufus Du Sol, SNAILS, EXCISION, GRiZ, Thomas Jack, Ghastly, Mija, Martin Garrix, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, Die Antwoord and over 60 other artists who will be performing across six branded stages, as well as, two monumental main stages.
Since its inception, SAMF has continually flourished. Starting as a concert series, in 2008 Spring Awakening transformed into a two-day weekend festival hosted by React Presents. Today the festival brings in almost 100,000 attendees across an immersive three-day experience. React Presents looks to build on this recipe of success in its 6th year with one its strongest lineups yet.
While Ultra and EDC have led the charge in the electronic festival arena, SAMF has been making serious noise as promoters continually recruit top names in genres spanning from house and techno to trance and dubstep, and beyond.
