With each passing moon and rising sun, we get one day closer to sipping that ice-cold margarita in Saint Martin on the exclusive festival grounds of Happy Bay to attend SXM Festival 2017 (SXMF 2017). With the esoteric sounds of Frank and Tony playing their beloved You Go Girl album and the crowd favorite “BOY BOY BOY” by AndHim, there isn’t a place in this world I’d rather be (I mean I love Berlin but, brrrr)! There are many things that we over here at Music Festival Central are preparing ourselves for; what to bring, who to see, and the overall layout of the festival. I’ve decided to share my personal guide of the top who’s, what’s, and where’s of this upcoming chapter of SXMF.
Let’s start with the WHAT'S: with Accuweather predicating a steady 81 degrees all week (25 Celsius for you Europeans) they are calling for the perfect climate. First things first, SUNSCREEN. No one should look like me circa 2008 Ultra -- it was not a pretty sight. Secondly, bring your swimsuits. Happy Bay will be our playground for the week. Surrounded by beautiful beaches and beautiful people, try to look your best…. Or don’t; who cares! The next thing I say is quite obvious, but I cannot stress it enough: WATER. Don’t be like SpongeBob when he goes into Sandy’s dome without water – with music being showcased 24 hours, 5 days straight, you gotta be responsible while dancing and stay hydrated. Go over to our friends at amazon and order yourself a nice water bottle (you’ll thank me later).

When it comes to the WHERE’S, stay tuned in the near future because I’ll be presenting a detailed list of all the best parties to attend during SXMF, but in the meantime, here are some references to get you started: Do Not Sit on The Furniture featuring, Behrouz and Audiofly; Deep House Amsterdam featuring Blond:ish and Ame; Punk Drunk Love with Bob Moses, Adhim and Frank & Tony.
SXMF after party tickets available through Eventbrite, price ranging from 40 to 100 Euros. Don’t wait because these parties will sell out. Also, be expecting boats, private villas and parties that run for 24 hours straight - you should probably practice your ‘yewwws.’
The 8 venues being used for the festival are located all around the island. You have two options here for transportation, boat or bus (starting at 59 Euros). Each can be booked through the SXMF website or via the link below.
