MUTEK is set to take off this August 22nd - 26th in Montréal, Quebéc for its 19th time running. This year, the festival will have a major focus on Women in Digital Arts and Electronic Music. The yearly Canadian-based music festival, renowned for its exceptional presentation standards and a curatorial approach, will continue this tradition on with national and international talent. Per usual, the festival has full support by the Government of Canada and the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
MUTEK is known to offer an interesting blend of festival, performance and conference. A major part of their concept is to help springboard Canadian artists into the international scene. The first two days of MUTEK 2018 is set to feature “factor one to one meetings” which is a way for Canadian artists to push their careers to the next level. Of course, for all audiophiles attending, you will see plenty of MOOG and synth showcases, along with some interesting other options such as “new kids on the blockchain” & “the politics of dancing and arting.”
Musically, MUTEK brings a list of national and international talent to the mix. Major headliners from the MUTEK 2018 lineup include Floorplan, Acid Pauli, Anthony Naples and Honey Dijon, along with a slew of other Canadian and international talent. Picnik Eletronik will be throwing its yearly party on Sunday to close out the festival. Other notable performers include Ben Nevile, Charlotte Bendiks, DEBIT and Kenny Larkin.
Something virtually no other festival/conference in the world offers are purely A/V Experiences. Each night for 5 nights, there are two immersive A/V Experiences in the Satosphere (not included in your ticket price). No matter your interest in the world of dance music, MUTEK provides something for everyone. Happy dancing!
