After Primus‘ drummer, Tim “Herd The Ginseng Drummer” Alexander, suffered a minor heart attack earlier this summer, Les Claypool was forced to pull the plug on their September shows. Although Tim appears to be making a swift recovery, Les wanted to be sure his safety was first and foremost by holding off on touring.
When the idea of putting on two big shows at Riot Fest in Chicago and Denver, Primus felt that if they were to attempt this musical maneuver, the group could only pull it off with the expertise of Tool’s drummer, Danny Carey.
In addition to the set of Riot Fest 2014 appearances, Danny Carey will join Primus for a show on September 13th at one of Chicago’s newest venues, the Concord Music Hall.
After the few performances in September, Primus plans to welcome Tim “Herb The Ginseng Drummer” Alexander back with open arms as they are scheduled to go on their fall tour, The Chocolate Factory Tour.
