On Friday evening, Phil & Friends threw a special shakedown party at Terrapin Crossroads to celebrate the 50th birthday of the bands guitar and vocal frontman, Scott Law. Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads is a gathering place for musicians and listeners who have love for the roots of all things Grateful Dead and jam band music. Phil & Friends has been keeping the spirit of these alive for 15 years and has featured an extensive list of amazing artists including Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Chris Robinson, Larry Campbell, Jackie Greene, Teresa Williams, Jeff Chimenti, Anders Osborne, Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon and many, many more.
Friday’s friends included Phil Lesh, Ross James, Stu Allen, Scott Guberman and Ezra Lipp and the birthday boy Scott Law. It was a solid evening of music touching on several era’s of Grateful Dead music including “Help On The Way>Slipknot” from Blues For Allah, “Easy Wind” from Workingman’s Dead and “Althea” from Go To Heaven. There were also some amazing covers in both sets with the likes of “I Fought The Law”- The Clash, “Sweet Jane”-The Velvet Underground, “Not Fade Away”- The Rolling Stones, and an amazing tribute to the late David Bowie with “Young Americans” .The full setlist and show is available for your pleasure below!
