“Out of nowhere, out of a total musical vacuum. Out of total musical darkness comes one ray of light” — Henry Rollins
Ween has confirmed the band will reunite for the first of a series of shows in Colorado on February 12th and 13th at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield. Claude Coleman (Drums), Dave Dreiwitz (Bass). Glenn McClelland (Keys) as well as Aaron Freeman “Gene Ween” (guitar/vocals) and MIckey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo (guitar) will play together for the first time since December of 2011 in Denver, CO.
Aaron Freeman infamously had a drug and alcohol fueled breakdown on stage in Vancouver in 2011 and “retired” from the band and subsequently entered a successful rehab stint. He has since led the sober lifestyle and has toured under an acclaimed album he recorded under the name Freeman in 2014, with a full band. He has recently been touring once again under the name Gene Ween playing a combination of Freeman and Ween songs.
Mickey Melchiando has been touring with the Dean Ween Group and has expressed interest in getting Ween back together throughout the hiatus. He recently has toured with the remaining members of Ween, minus Freeman of course. He has also spent his time pursuing his passion of fishing and has also toured with his longtime band, the Moistboyz.
Their last album recorded as Ween was the 2007’s La Cucaracha and the band has promised the shows will be “fucking mind blowing” and will feature “new stuff that nobody has heard live before”.
